Meet our Trailblazers: Welcome to our AICE Team Spotlight. This series introduces you to the dedicated individuals behind the AICE project.
In these short videos, get to know each member and hear their thoughts on what excites them about their role in AICE and how they believe our project will make a real difference in colon cancer screening and diagnostics.
Roma Maguire
Hi there. I’m Roma Maguire. I’m a Professor of Digital Health at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow in Scotland.
And what excites me about AICE is the way that it can really speed up diagnostics for bowel conditions, both cancerous and non cancerous, in the future.
My role in AICE is being involved in the development of the app that patients will use when they’re going through colon capsule endoscopy, from the point of their bowel preparation right through to when they get the results, and also, importantly, in the development of the patient reported experience measure.
So what we’re going to do is develop a questionnaire that will ask patients to fill in at the end of their experience of colon capsule endoscopy.
And from that, we can see what is that experience.
What parts of the pathway do we need to improve. And ultimately identify those patients that might be more appropriate to having colon capsule endoscopy, as opposed to others.
