Madeleine Hayenhjelm is Ass. Prof (Senior Lecturer) in Philosophy at the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies at Umeå University, Sweden. She is also chairing the Nordic Bioethics Committee 2022 (under Nordforsk). Her main research areas are within: Ethics, Phil. of Risk, and Bioethics.

Her latest research project was the ethics and risks of human gene editing and the ethical issues raised by germline gene editing. She is interested in ethical questions related to emerging technology and uncertainty and topics such as such as responsibility, precaution, etc.
